Classic Cuts of Carrots

In this last week’s lesson, I learned how to do some classic cuts of root vegetables. The main vegetable I used was a carrot, but I could use these techniques on other veggies as well.

It may seem pretty easy, but it was actually kinda hard for me to do! Cutting a round carrot into a block so I could then dice it into even cubes was pretty difficult! But I managed to get it done, and learned some pretty good skills!

From a carrot, to a block, to slices, to strips, to dices. That was one of the things I learned how to do in this lesson. I didn’t get any pictures of during the block, slices, or strips steps, but here is what I ended up with after those few steps.

The cubes were not all I did. I also cut the pretty typical half circle slices of carrots that you could possibly put on a salad or something. This was a pretty easy one. Cutting a line down the middle of the whole carrot, and then slicing it to make the half circles.

We did use some of the half slices on salads, but other than that, we haven’t really done much with the carrots I cut. I would love any suggestions in the comments to do with the carrots!
